Herbal Medicine
Botanical medicine has been the main system of healing in cultures throughout the world for thousands of years. This knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation and is lovingly referred to as “the medicine of the people” because of its effectiveness and accessibility.
Herbs are used in a variety of ways. They are used to nourish our bodies, providing minerals and vitamins on a deep cellular level; they can be used to tonify our systems, helping specific organs and body functions; and they can be used as strong medicine to heal both acute and chronic conditions.
In Joanne’s private practice, she uses herbs to treat the whole person, not merely the condition presenting. Through various diagnostic methods and inquiry, Joanne helps to discover where the imbalance resides and how it might be jeopardizing the health of the system as a whole. Eliminating the root cause of a symptom is key to optimal health.
Joanne specializes in women’s health, from puberty to childbearing years to menopause. These are all experiences that women can claim as their own and in doing so, take responsibility in how they will face these various life stages. Herbal medicine can provide women with a choice that not only supports the system, but is a safe alternative to some of the conventional medical treatments currently available.
Every herbal formula is sophisticated and individualized, and takes into consideration a person’s constitution, medical condition, and emotional health history. Herbal medicine, when correctly applied is completely safe and gentle, with no side effects. Herbal remedies may be in the form of bulk teas, powdered extract, tinctures, pills, topical applications, and flower essences formulations. A session may include Herbal remedies from Western, Chinese, and Ayurvedic traditions of healing, recommendations based on physical and/or emotional issues, nutritional suggestions, lifestyle support, and medicinal grade essential oil therapy.
